The best breathable baby carrier does not exist for everyone. A breathable baby carrier should suit your child, your body and the moment when you are carrying: at home, on holiday, during a walk or just for short trips.

What should you look for?

Feature	Why it matters
Material	Linen, lightweight cotton or mesh can feel more comfortable in warm weather. However, keep in mind that carrying comfort remains more important than breathability alone.
Number of fabric layers	The fewer thick layers over parent and child, the more breathable it usually feels.
Fit	A carrier that fits well feels more stable. A loose or uneven adjustment often actually feels warmer and heavier.
When you’ll use it	For holidays or short trips, you may sometimes choose differently than for long walks.

For a baby, toddler or older child

For a young baby, support is especially important. In that case, look for a lightweight baby carrier that can be adjusted down nicely. For toddlers and older children, the carrier can provide more support because the weight is greater.
