Congratulations on the birth of your baby! The information on this page can help you choose the right baby carrier. Carrying newborn babies is very good for bonding and naturally cosy and snug. We distinguish between the following types of baby carriers
Carrying with or without a baby insert
When your baby is still very small (size 44 or size 50), you do not have a huge choice of baby carriers. One important consideration you can make for yourself is whether you want to carry your baby in a carrier that requires a baby insert, or whether you would prefer one without. A carrier with a baby insert means that the carrier itself is actually still too large, but the baby insert makes the carrier smaller. This can be useful, for example, when you have 2 children whom you carry and only want to purchase one carrier. This way, you can carry both a small and a larger child (in turn) in the carrier.
Full-buckle, half-buckle or mei tai
You can also consider whether to choose a full-buckle, a half-buckle or a mei tai. The choice you make here is very personal. Do you want something ready to use? Then choose a full-buckle! Do you use the carrier together with your partner, who has a very different build from you? Then you can imagine that with a full-buckle carrier, you have to adjust the straps again each time your partner has used the carrier. This is not difficult at all, but it may be a reason not to choose a full-buckle. Do you not like all those straps hanging from a full-buckle carrier? Or do you not think a carrier with buckles would feel comfortable? Then you can also look at a mei tai or possibly a half-buckle.
