It is so tempting: you receive your ring sling in the post and want to wrap it immediately. This is not advisable. Washing fixes the threads more securely in place. If you do not, thread shifting may occur. So inspect the ring sling first when you have received it and then put it in the wash! Tip: put a washcloth around the rings and tie it with a piece of string/shoelace. This is better for your washing machine, prevents your rings from being damaged, éand it saves a lot of noise.

Tip for soaking your ring sling:

Before washing your ring sling, you can soak it overnight in a tub of water. You can optionally add a dash of white natural vinegar. This removes sizing (= a glue-like material that makes the threads of your ring sling stiff). Not all materials may be soaked.

These materials may be soaked: ring slings with cotton, linen and/or hemp.
These materials may not be soaked: ring slings with silk, wool and/ or bamboo.

Soaking is not necessarily required but is permitted.

Washing tips:

• Always wash your ring sling according to the instructions on the care label. Especially for the first wash, do not wash at a lower temperature than specified. Washing your ring sling ensures that the threads fix more securely in place.
• A ring sling containing wool, silk and/or bamboo will most likely need to be hand-washed.
• Preferably wash your ring sling separately from other garments. If you do not, watch out for hooks, zips and hook-and-loop fasteners. These can damage your ring sling.
• Use only detergent without bleach. Bleach is known to damage the fibres. For delicate materials such as wool, silk and bamboo, also use a suitable (wool) detergent without lanolin.
• Do not use fabric softener. You might think that it makes your ring sling softer, but fabric softener also has another effect: it increases the risk of the threads shifting and may make your ring sling unsafe.

Drying tips

• Follow the care label!
• Always dry a ring sling made of delicate material (wool, silk, bamboo) flat.
• Although it is quicker, we advise you never to put the ring sling in the tumble dryer; this causes your ring sling to wear out quickly (just like clothing).

Ironing tips

Check the care label carefully to see at what temperature your ring sling may be ironed. This applies especially to delicate materials such as wool, silk and bamboo. Ironing with steam makes your ring sling a little softer again.
